Case study - Hertford College, Oxford University
We had the pleasure of interviewing Jordan Davies, Head of Events & Operations at Hertford College, Oxford University.
Jordan Davies generously shares valuable insights into Hertford College’s experience with Uniware. Highlighting how their Uniware system has streamlined operations and enriched the student experience.
Highlights
1. A Discrete Meal Voucher Scheme
Uniwares EPoS system has the functionality that Herford College needed to offer a pre-paid voucher bursary scheme that could be allocated to students via the UPay app. The college has made dining on campus more appealing and encouraged more students to take advantage of the meal services available.
2. Protecting Student Dignity with Discretion
Whether a student uses a free meal token or a paid voucher, there is no way to tell the difference. This ensures that all students can enjoy their meals without feeling singled out or embarrassed, fostering an inclusive and respectful dining environment.
3. The UPay App: Simple, Seamless, Convenient
One of the standout features of Hertford College’s new voucher system is its seamless integration with the UPay app. Purchasing meal vouchers has never been easier – students can quickly buy the blocks they need through the app, simplifying the process and making it easier to access dining services.
4. Event Management
We hold three formal evening dinners each week, plus various other events, all managed through the Uniware Events system. Students easily sign up for formals by logging into their UPay app and registering in a matter of seconds. This quick and straightforward process is crucial for us because our events sell out within minutes of going live.
5. Working Together As A Team
We know the Uniware team personally and interact with real people who truly understand our system and goals. They know our history, which makes a real difference in helping us grow and provide the best service for our students.
Over the years, they’ve become familiar with our unique needs and aspirations. When we need a solution, they offer straightforward guidance, even if it means acknowledging a challenge that needs to be addressed. There’s a genuine honesty in their approach—they listen, respond directly, and follow through to make improvements, not just offering lip service. We truly feel our needs are taken seriously.
